Win Brooks PureGrit 3 trail running shoes

Missed out on your Brooks?

Sorry you didn’t get a shot at winning the PureGrit 3 trail shoes. But don’t worry, we have another great competition heading your way soon.

Subscribe to TRAIL magazine South Africa any time after midnight on 30 January 2015 and you go into the draw to win from our next prize pool.

Only subscribers who signed up before midnight are in the draw to win one of two Brooks PureGrit 3 trail shoes (valued at R1,749 per pair).

We’ve tested them and we love them. The PureGrit 3 is a classy, lightweight, grippy, forgiving, and flexible trail shoe with good cushioning that’s impossible not to love!

Here’s our take after running in them:

This impressive shoe has enjoyed a surge of support from its SA stockists, many of whom rate it as one of their top three sellers. Its popularity probably stems from the comfortable roominess of the toebox and the whole shoe’s paradoxical lightness and feel for the ground. That’s despite a generous sense of cushioning and foot protection.

It’s little surprise that it was designed in collaboration with Brooks ambassador Scott Jurek. Apart from the weight and comfort, tester Deon was impressed by the PG3’s grippiness, courtesy of the Hex lug outsole. It’s not the most aggressive tread ever, but it does a great job of keeping your foot stable (and you vertical) on a range of surfaces. With the wide spacing and shallow conical lugs, there’s no chance of ‘stone pinching’ either – that irritating crunching sound of a stone caught between the grooves of deep lugs. This is a classic shoe you should consider foot-testing when buying a pair for runs of all distances and intensities.

They’ve won awards, they’ve wowed like a gazillion feet across the Milky Way and if those two attributes don’t impress you – in plain and simple English, the PureGrit 3’s are seriously GOOD trail running shoes. And best of all, they’re one of those shoes that lots of kinds of feet seem to like. Never a bad thing!

We’re chuffed to partner with Brooks South Africa so that two of our readers can improve the quality of their running experience.

You could keep having a so-so trail ride or you could slip your feet into a pair of Brooks PureGrit 3.

Competition closes 11pm 30 January 2015.
