Addo Elephant Trail Run 2015

Addo Trail Run 2015

This February, tackle the 76km or 44km Addo Elephant Trail Run through the vast Addo Elephant National Park (75km from Port Elizabeth) and experience the remoteness of the Eastern Cape’s bushveld.  Addo Elephant Trail Run 1-3 page web T13

Online entries close 1 February 2015.
There are trophies for the top 3 men and women for both distances, and a finisher gift for every competitor who makes the cut off!

Merrell Eden Duo 2014

Back for more mud, sweat and mountains as Merrell Eden Duo 2014 promises to wow yet again in glorious Eastern Cape.

The Merrell Eden Duo (MED) makes its return to give competitors their annual taste of the Garden Route’s most challenging trails.

Riders at Merrell Eden Duo

Riders blissed out on mountain air at Merrell Eden Duo 2013

The race has served up more than a decade of outdoor action amongst the most gorgeous scenery the Eastern Cape has to offer. Racers get to see lush forests and mud-laced trails throughout the course and are faced with arduous climbs to test their endurance levels. The event takes place in the Garden Route National Park – Wilderness.

The long race option Merrell Eden Duo is a whopping 150km of trail running, mountain biking, paddling, and canyoning through rugged terrain, often with limited access to remote sections of the route. This makes your choice of gear extremely important, from the bag on your back to the shoes on your feet.

Don’t let the 150km psyche you out – there are shorter distances for adventurers wanting lesser challengers – but make no mistake, no matter which distance you choose, you will be tested!

Over the past few years, title sponsors Merrell have seen the event grow from strength to strength and this year they are expecting no less. With a fresh new crop of AR athletes making their way onto the multi-disciplinary racing scene, this year the MED is sure to spark a whole new level of competition among its entrants.

You could be part of an expected 400 mountain bikers who tackle the challenging route starting at popular Kurland Estate and finishing at the Boardwalk Casino complex in Port Elizabeth, four days later. The route takes you through amazing scenery from Plett to Kareedouw to Hankey to Woodridge School and onto Port Elizabeth.

Day 1

The start and day before registration will be at Kurland just outside of Plett. We will run a similar route to that of the 2013 Day 1 event with some obvious changes around Natures Valley where new single track is being explored and less portage. We will continue past Storms River Village en route to Kareedouw with the 1st overnight being at the Stoor. There are 3 waterpoints – Natures Valley, Storms River and
Oudenbosch Farm stall.

Day 2

We will exit Kareedouw following the old railway line, taking you through 3 game farms and cutting across the absolutely beautiful Suurveld and wind our way across the Kouga Mountains into the Hankey area .This takes us into the citrus area of the Gamtoos River Valley with magnificent riding. Were you`ll end the day with lovely bit of single track downhill into Hankey. Our overnight village will be at Hackey School. There are 2 waterpoints on route.

Day 3

We now have the opportunity to ride the Longmore Forests and together with 3 rivers trails we are starting to cut new single track in this pristine area. With our overnight stop at Woodridge School we don’t have to cover big distances so we can do a whole lot more technical and just have Fun. You`ll be able to restock and catch your breath at the 2 waterpoints provided.

Day 4

The team at Woodridge are hard at work with new tracks and we will very likely follow the route from the school in reverse until we get to the base of Huff Puff Hill when we will then run along the coast past Maitlands and Seaview and follow the fynbos trail for an epic finish at the Boardwalk Casino and Hotel complex opposite Shark Rock Pier where we started the inaugural 2013 event. Aaing there will be 2 waterpoints along the way, the last one coming past the Cyclo Pro bike shops doorsteps.
