On 3 February 2018, Hermannsburg will again host the aQuelle Hermannsburg Mudman. From modest beginnings in 1999, the HMB Mudman has grown into a superbly successful event, sponsored from the start by aQuelle, which is still its principal sponsor.

Something for everyone

Situated 20km east of Greytown on the R74, the aQuelle Hermannsurg Mudman is the first event in the aQuelle Mudman Series – one of the most popular multisport events in KwaZulu-Natal, offering a broad range of categories that cater for top athletes, weekend sport enthusiasts, and relay teams.

The Hermannsburg Mudman is not only for serious athletes but is also an opportunity to give first-timers a taste of the action. Our aim is to encourage more people to get outdoors and enjoy a day of family fun in a safe and secure environment. We want to create an amazing experience for the whole family. You can choose different options in doing your triathlon. It is open to all ages, from kindergarten to pensioners; nobody needs to sit at home.

Hermannsburg Mudman is kid friendly!

To make that day an amazing experience for the whole family, Hermannsburg Mudman also offers a mini Mudman, called Mudskipper. Children under 12 compete in different age groups. Here you can see three-year-olds riding their tricycles, four-year-olds paddling with all their might through the pool, and dads or moms running with their offspring through the finish line. But the most rewarding sights are the proud smiles when they get their medals.

You can expect a great ride, challenging enough to make you love it and for the beginners some tracks to introduce you to true mountain biking. The different routes are well marked and there are refreshment tables throughout the track.

Two Hermannsburg Mudman distance options:

Full distance 750m swim or 2.5km paddle / 20km MTB / 5km trail run

Half Distance 375m swim or 1.75km paddle / 10km MTB / 2.5km trail run.

The full and half distance can be completed as an individual or in a team.

Yes, you can cycle on water!

You can camp!

Families picnic for the day or make a whole weekend of it, camping at Hermannsburg’s shady comfortable sports complex. School teams participate and stand to win R1,000 for best participation (excluding the hosting school) and to go home with the coveted floating trophy. There is a business challenge too, but remember: At least one member of the team has to be from the business itself.

So, what are you waiting for? The countdown has started! Take up the challenge in 2018 and participate at the Home of the Mudman Series. Diarise 3 February 2018 now and don’t miss out on the swim/paddle, ride and run.
